helping people you don't know  / Rita Sittig (neighbors)
We live in Lake Charles and weren't hurt by the hurricane but we have thousands of displaced familes laying in our shelters who need our help. 3 Families moved in down the street for us so we went through clothes, most of which still had tages on them and gave them everything we could. Tonite we had a cookout in their honor. They are such nice people and we really hope they will stay our neighbors. We don't have a lot of money but everyone can afford a pack of diapers and wipes, take them to a shelter and the peolpe will thank you.
We are on this earth to HELP each other!!!  Anything you can give helps someone who has LOST EVERYTHING but their lives.

Flags Of The World USAFlags
America is a land filled with courageous giving people.
People who fight for what is right.
People who don't tolerate bullies.
People who are there in times of crisis.
And people who lend a hand.
Be proud to call yourself an American.
Help make this world, not just this country, a better place.
There is not anyone, too young nor too old,
too rich or too poor to make a difference.

Cherish your dreams, hold tight to your ideals, march boldly to the music that only you can hear. Great lives are built by moving forward, never by looking back [unless it is to honor those that have honored us]. Even in our darkest moments, Americans have always held hope in their hearts. By remembering our history, holding on to our values, and supporting each other, we have found the strength to face any struggle thrown our way.

KEEP THE FAITH  / Debbie Boyanski Watertown, new York (140 st. mary st.13601 )
I KNOW AT A TIME LIKE THIS THERE ISN'T WORDS TO HEAL ALL THAT YOU MAY BE FEELING. BUT YOU MUST KEEP THE FAITH AND KNOW THAT GOD FOR SOME REASON HAS PUT YOU ALL TO THE TEST TO SEE IF YOU TRUELY BELIEVE. IT MAY TAKE YEARS TO REBUILD AND FIND THE MISSING BUT KNOW WHEREVER THEY ARE THEY ARE IN A BETTER PLACE NOW. SO TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME AND TRY TO THINK OF ALL THE GOOD THAT HAS COME FROM THIS YOU ARE STILL ALIVE. SO GOD DOES HAVE A BIGGER PLAN FOR YOU. STAY STRONG AND REMEMBER TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AND HELP EACH OTHER OUT. YOU WILL BE REWARDED IN THE END. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE. LOVE WILL KEEP YOU STRONG!
I know your pain  / Yvonne Morris (From England UK )
To all the relatives and friends who have lost loved ones - I know your pain having lost my niece in a car accident in December 2004.  I send love and condolences to you all.  Time is not a healer you just learn to live and exist with your loss.  America is always there and gives so much to other countries involved in natural disasters - America needs your help now, the people of New Orleans needs your help the rest of the world needs to dig deep and get aid to the USA.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God Blessxxxxxxx
goodnews from above...  / Bree
In my distressI kept calling upon the true god. And to my God I kept crying for help. And out of his temple he proceeded to hear my voice, and my own cry before him for help now came into his ears. (ps 18:6) notice this: And he proceeded to bend the heavens down and descend and thick gloom was beneath his feet and he came riding upon a cherub and came flying.(vs 9,10) Not only do men care and are doing everything in there power to help those suffering,God is the one that is empowering them and he is really the one behind the scenes, doing the directing.. Dont worry dear ones. love not only comes from the earth and from mankind but it also comes from above and from the great lifgiver and the substainer.... acts17:28.

Prayers and Tears  / Danielle Parfait
This is what we all feared. And those who didnt should have. This is absolutely one of the hardest obsticals Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama will have to face in history. Being affected by loss of power through the storm was concidered to be a blessing as I sat and listened to the radio and what was happening to our great city of New Orleans. To wake Monday morning and hear all the devistation that ripped through homes and businesses was gutwrenching. And to learn of the lives lost and people in horrible situations tore my heart out as I sat and could do nothing. And to know things only got worse for alot of people alot faster than should have. My husband and I cried as we watched the news for the last week with unbelievable pictures of victims of Katrina's rath. We prayed so hard for everyone and still continue to do so. For the survivors of Katrina, you should walk around with pride on your shoulders. Knowing what you indured to get through this. Pride should be felt by you and others who share simaliar stories. It takes strong people to get through something like this. Stronger than most people think they are. You have been blessed to see the sun shine again. My family prays for you. And we cry tears for your hardships and loss. But we are all strong southern individuals and you will make it through this with the help of us all. The PEOPLE make this country what it is. And we will come together and rebuild. My heart goes out to all along with my prayers for those lost and the weary. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Man on roof  / Martha Burnett
I want to pay tribute to the man standing on his roof and saying he was not leaving his home. I admire his stand because it is telling the government that they can not take what he has worked for all his life. We have a right to protect our home and property, otherwise this place would be a dictatorship which we are close to being anyway. At least he is not being herded to shelters like a herd of animals to slaughter, which is the way the people of New Orleans have been treated.  All I have is my dignity and I could never be treated as those people were, and for all the world to see. God is still with us  / Laura Harris (Texas)

To all who read this! I've watched the devastation that has been brought about from hurricane Katrina and is truely an eye opener. People say that this kind of event doesn't take place on U.S. soil. People say that they should be watching this on their televisions from some third world country. The United States is just as vulnerable as any other country and I just hope that this terrible event humbles everyone. This is just a painful reminder that as much as we would like to have complete control over our own lives, the only person in complete control is God Almighty. Maybe God allowed this to happen so that people would turn to Him instead of relying on other humans. I feel guilty that my house was not destroyed and that I don't have to struggle for food and water. This catastrophe could have easily happened to me and I will always keep that close to my heart. I couldn't imagine loosing EVERYTHING that I possess along with a family member or friend all at the same time. Yet I must remember that all any of us ever will need is the Lord and the Lord alone. Texas has opened it's arms to thousands of victims and I am so proud of the efforts being made to help in any way we can. That is God working through the people. Everything happens for a reason. Even though I want to question God I cannot. I will continue to put my trust in Him that He will never forsake us no matter what our wordly losses may be. After all, we cannot take the things of this world to heaven. May God strengthen us and bring us closer together that we would do whatever it takes to rebuild new homes, memories, and our faith.

No one is to blame  / Mary
Firstly, God bless everyone who was affected by this tragedy. You all are in my thoughts always.

In the media, there has been much attention on "blaming" the federal government. No one can be blamed for a natural disaster. Instead of everyone trying to place "blame" on someone, we should instead be asking, "What can I do to help?" or, "How can we fix it?"

This is a time of tragedy, and we, as Americans, should stand together to help our fellow citizens. Close

OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL  / LEE FAMILY, Limerick, Ireland
Just watching it all unfold on the news is unbelievable.  The utter distruction and loss of lives, homes and belongings. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.  The sheer courage of the people affected and that of the emergency services.  Once again America has shown how they all pull together in crisis to help each other.

Hurricane Andrew hit America in August 1992, I remember it clearly as I was in Labour on my third child (first son), as a mark of respect to those that died then I called my new baby son Andrew, as a mark of hope for the
future of those people affected.  I now light a candle as a mark of hope for the people affected by Hurricane Katrina.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL . xxxxxxxx
